Call for Participation - to the Open Science Slam Berlin

You are a scientist, enthusiastic about your research topic and think that science should be more open? And that science can also be fun? Then we are looking for you! Join us in bringing edutainment (here is a study about it: Niemann et al, 2020: http://dx.doi.org/10.17645/mac.v8i1.2459) on the stage of the Open Science Slam, on 4.11.2020.

All research topics are welcome, whether computer science and Open Data, philosophy, forest and meadow biology, or meta-level Open Science research. Career ladder level doesn’t matter either, as long as you have your own topic. We welcome Master students and PhD students as well as post-docs and professors, and newcomers to the stage as well as experienced stage daredevils (if you are interested and need it, we also offer a short coaching on how to prepare your talk). It is “come as you are” with your topic and your motivation for Open Science. You have 10 minutes and can use everything: Slides, experiments, music and whatever else you can think of. The audience is the jury and will choose a winner at the end. Don’t worry – it’s a nice competition and reviewer 2 is not invited ;-).

The whole thing is organized by innOsci with support from the Wikimedia Deutschland Fellowprogramm Freies Wissen, at the Kultur- und Wissensbar Göttin der Weisheit, Lenaustraße 5, as part of Berlin Science Week. Of course with hygiene concept and sufficient distance and ventilation! Science communicator and Science Slam moderator Philipp Schrögel will lead through the evening. The Science Slam will start at 7 pm, and will be streamed online via YouTube and the Berlin Science Week platform.

If you would like to participate, please register by October 28th at: svenja.ruehland@stifterverband.de.

There will be a fat prize and an honorarium of 150,- € for all participants.

In view of the current tense situation, especially in Berlin, we will gladly allow you to participate virtually if you cannot or do not want to be there. Stay safe & slam on!

Edutainment at its best – we are looking forward to you!
